DESCRIPTION: \nIn the roadmap toward next-generation supercomputers it is
evident that hybrid architectures (integrating CPU and accelerators) will
have an important share in the HPC market\, and the consolidation of this
kind of architectures requires an important effort in software developme
nt and applications refactoring.\nThis school focus on software developmen
t techniques to address the implementation of new HPC applications and the
re-factory of existing ones\, in the era of hybrid\, energy efficient\,
massively parallel architectures. \nSoftware engineering techniques will
complement more traditional lectures on parallel programming\, to allow th
e implementation of application that can be maintained across a complex a
nd fast evolving HPC architectures.\nThe school\, in the hands-on session\
, will give the possibility to exercise using both Nvidia and Intel accele
rators integrated in the Eurora PRACE prototype.\n Topics\n hybrid arch
 itectures\n	\n Elements of software engineering.\n	\n Parallel programmi
ng techniques for accelerators (Nvidia and Intel)\n	\n Parallel programmi
ng techniques for energy efficient applications.\n	\n Introduction to Ope
nCl\n	\n Models for applications integrating MPI\, OpenMP and accelerator
specific paradigm.\n\n Target Audience\nThe school is aimed at PRACE use
rs\, final year master students\, PhD students\, and young researchers in
computational sciences and engineering\, with different backgrounds\, inte
rested in applying the emerging technologies on high performance computing
to their research.\n Pre-requisites\nBasic knowledge of parallel program
ming with MPI and/or OpenMP\, Knowledge of FORTRAN and C languages.\nBasic
knowledge of parallel computer architectures.\n Attendance is free. A g
rant of 250 EUR (for students working abroad) and 150 EUR (for students wo
rking in Italy) will be available for participants not funded by their Ins
titution and not working in the Bologna area. Documentation will be requir
ed.  Lunch will be provided by CINECA. Each student will be given a two m
onth access to the CINECA's supercomputing resources.\n Application Deadl
 ine\nJanuary 16th 2014 REGISTRATION CLOSED!\n\nhttps://events.prace-ri.eu/
