DESCRIPTION:In the roadmap toward next-generation supercomputers it is evid
ent that hybrid architectures (integrating CPU and accelerators) will have
an important share in the HPC market\, and the consolidation of this kind
of architectures requires an important effort in software development and
applications refactoring.\nThis school focus on software development tech
niques to address the implementation of new HPC applications and the re-fa
ctory of existing ones\, in the era of hybrid\, energy efficient\, massive
ly parallel architectures.\nSoftware engineering techniques and high produ
ctivity languages will complement more traditional lectures on parallel pr
ogramming\, to allow the implementation of application that can be maintai
ned across a complex and fast evolving HPC architectures.\nThe school\, in
the hands-on session\, will give the possibility to exercise using both N
vidia and Intel accelerators integrated in the Eurora PRACE prototype.TOPI
CS\n• Hybrid architectures\n• Elements of software engineering\n• Pa
rallel programming techniques for accelerators (Nvidia and Intel)\n• Par
allel programming techniques for energy efficient applications\n• Introd
uction to Python for high performance computing\n• Models for applicatio
ns integrating MPI\, OpenMP and accelerator\n  specific paradigm\n TARGE
T AUDIENCE\nThe school is aimed at PRACE users\, final year master student
s\, PhD students\, and young researchers in computational sciences and eng
ineering\, with different backgrounds\, interested in applying the emergin
g technologies on high performance computing to their research.\n PRE-REQ
UISITES\nBasic knowledge of parallel programming with MPI and/or OpenMP\,
knowledge of FORTRAN and C languages.\nBasic knowledge of parallel compute
 r architectures.\n     \nAttendance is free. A grant of 250 EUR (for
students working abroad) and 150 EUR (for students working in Italy) will
be available for participants not funded by their institution and not work
ing or living in the Bologna area. Documentation will be required. Lunch w
ill be provided by Cineca. Each student will be given a two month access t
 o the Cineca's supercomputing resources.\n  APPLICATION DEADLINE \n16 Ja
nuary\, 2015\n\nADMITTED STUDENTS WILL BE PUBLISHED HERE ON FRIDAY 22ND\n
\nThe number of participants for each edition is limited to 24 stu
dents. Applicants will be selected according to their experience\, qualifi
 cation and scientific interest.\n   EDITION FOR 2014\n9 - 13 February\,
  2015 - Bologna\n \nThis edition will be held in English and non-Italian
speaking students are welcome!\n  \nThe support of CINI for the software
  engineering module is gratefully acknowledged.\n\nhttps://events.prace-ri
