DESCRIPTION:\n	Goals\n\n	This workshop organized by VI-HPS for the German P
RACE Advanced Training Centre (PATC) hosted by Jülich Supercomputing Cent
re will:\n\n give an overview of the VI-HPS programming tools suite\n	\n
explain the functionality of individual tools\, and how to use them effec
tively\n	\n offer hands-on experience and expert assistance using the too
ls with participants' own application codes\n\n	Programme Overview\n\n	Pre
sentations and hands-on sessions are planned on the following topics:\n\n
Setting up\, welcome and introduction\n	\n Parallel file I/O bottlenecks
  and solutions\n	\n Score-P instrumentation\, measurement and analysis in
 frastructure\n	\n Scalasca performance analysis toolset\n	\n Vampir trac
 e analysis toolset\n	\n TAU performance system\n	\n Paraver trace analys
is toolset\n	\n Periscope automated analysis tool\n	\n MUST correctness
checking of MPI\n	\n STAT stack trace analysis tool (plus other tools to
be determined)\n\n	Learning outcomes: Participants will become familiar wi
th portable state-of-the-art parallel performance analysis and correctness
checking tools.\n\n	Pre-requisites: Participants are strongly encouraged
to bring their own MPI and OpenMP parallel applications to work with durin
g the tuning workshop. They should be familiar with the procedures for com
piling and running their applications on BlueGene (or similar HPC) systems
. Places are limited and acceptance will be based on the participant infor
mation provided when registering.\n\n	The workshop will be held in English
and run from 09:00 to not later than 18:00 each day\, with breaks for lun
ch and refreshments. There is no fee for participation\, however\, partici
pants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation\, and to acce
ss the HPC systemsthey are expected to bring their own notebook computer s
uitably configured with SSH and X11 capabilities.\n\n	Hardware and Softwar
 e Platforms\n\n	JUQUEEN: this 28-rack BlueGene/Q system will be used for t
he hands-on exercises:\n\n 28\,672 compute nodes with IBM PowerPC A2 proc
essors (1.6GHz\, 16 cores per processor\, 4-way hardware threads per core)
and 16 GB memory per node\n	\n software: IBM lightweight CNK\, BlueGene
MPI and XL compilers\n\n	The local HPC system Juqueen is the primary platf
orm for the workshop\, with an x86_64 Linux cluster used for analysis pres
entation tools not available on Juqueen. Course accounts will be provided
during the workshop to participants without existing accounts. Other syste
ms where up-to-date versions of the tools are installed can also be used w
hen preferred\, though support may be limited and participants are expecte
d to already possess user accounts on non-local systems. Regardless of whi
chever systems they intend to use\, participants should be familiar with t
he relevant procedures for compiling and running their parallel applicatio
ns (via batch queues where appropriate).\n\n	The programme in detail can b
e found on the VI-HPS training web site.\n\n	Registration\n\n	Registration
is open and will close in September 2013 or whenever the class is full: t
he number of participants is limited and selection will be made based on t
he information provided when registering.\nContact \nFor any questions con
cerning the course please send an e-mail to b.wylie@fz-juelich.de.\n\nhttp
