DESCRIPTION:ARCHER\, the UK's national supercomputing service\, offers trai
ning in software development and high-performance computing to scientists
and researchers across the UK. As part of our training service\, and in co
njunction with our hosting of EuroMPI2016\, we will be running a 2 day ‘
Advanced MPI’ training session.\n\nDetails\n\nThis course is aimed at pr
ogrammers seeking to deepen their understanding of MPI and explore some of
its more recent and advanced features. We cover topics including communic
 ator management\, non-blocking and neighbourhood collectives\, MPI-IO\, si
ngle-sided MPI and the new MPI memory model. We also look at performance a
spects such as which MPI routines to use for scalability\, overlapping com
munication and calculation and MPI internal implementation issues.  Timet
able will be available nearer the course date.\n\n \n\nThis course is fre
e to all academics.\n\nIntended learning outcomes\n\nUnderstanding of when
and how to use MPI datatypes\n	Understanding of how to achieve high perfo
rmance with MPI I/O\n	Familiarity with neighbourhood collective operations
in MPI\n	Knowledge of MPI memory models for RMA operations\n	Familiarity
with MPI RMA operations and single-sided communication\n	Understanding of
the challenges of hybrid MPI+X programming\n	Understanding of best practic
e for MPI+OpenMP programming\n	Familiarity with proposal to add flexible e
ndpoints in MPI\n \n\n \n\nPre-requisites\n\nAttendees should be familia
r with MPI programming in C\, C++ or Fortran\, e.g. have attended the ARCH
 ER MPI course.\n\n \n\nhttps://events.prace-ri.eu/event/507/
