DESCRIPTION:Advanced MPI\n\nARCHER\, the UK's national supercomputing servi
ce\, offers training in software development and high-performance computin
g to scientists and researchers across the UK. As part of our training ser
vice we will be running a 2-day Advanced MPI training session.\n\nTrainer\
n\nDavid Henty\n\nDavid teaches on a wide range of EPCC's technical traini
ng courses\, including MPI and OpenMP\, and is overall course organiser fo
r EPCC's MSc in High Performance Computing.\n\nDetails\n\nThis course is a
imed at programmers seeking to deepen their understanding of MPI and explo
re some of its more recent and advanced features. We cover topics includin
 g communicator management\, non-blocking and neighbourhood collectives\, s
ingle-sided MPI and the new MPI memory model. We also look at performance
aspects such as which MPI routines to use for scalability\, overlapping co
mmunication and calculation and MPI internal implementation issues.\n\nInt
ended learning outcomes\n\n\n	Understanding of how internal MPI implementa
tion details affect performance\n	Familiarity with neighbourhood collectiv
e operations in MPI\n	Knowledge of MPI memory models for RMA operations\n
Familiarity with MPI RMA operations and single-sided communication\n	Under
standing of best practice for MPI+OpenMP programming\n\n\nPre-requisites\n
\nAttendees should be familiar with MPI programming in C\, C++ or Fortran\
, e.g. have attended the ARCHER MPI course.\n\nPre-course setup\n\nAll att
endees should bring their own wireless-enabled laptop set up with the requ
ired software. Practical exercises will be done using a guest account on A
RCHER.\n\nTimetable\n\nAll sessions will include hands-on practical exerci
 ses in addition to lectures material.\n\nDay 1: 27th January\n\n     0
