DESCRIPTION:Following the success of the ELIXIR BioHackathon2018 and BioHac
kathon2019\, and building on the BioHackathons organised by National Biosc
ience Database Center (NBDC) and Database Center for Life Science (DBCLS)\
, we bring you the BioHackathon in a virtual fashion. This 9-13 November\,
we will put online platforms to the test to bring you a fun and productiv
e event — we will be using Remo &amp\; SLACK!\n\nWe believe the new form
at will allow everyone to participate in the BioHackathon and deliver tang
ible outcomes from the selected projects. While the BioHackathon is going
virtual\, seats are limited and registration is based on a first-come\, fi
rst-served basis. We hope to build on our success and encourage more ELIXI
R and non-ELIXIR participants to take part and also have industry engageme
nt. Don’t miss your chance to attend this year and register before 18 Se
ptember 2020.\n\nSCOPE\nBioHackathon activities are driven by practical se
ssions where people gather\, discuss\, and implement ideas/projects during
intensive and productive coding sessions. The topics will be aligned to c
hallenges proposed by ELIXIR platforms (data\, tools\, compute\, interoper
ability and training)\, ELIXIR communities (Human Data\, Rare Diseases\, M
 arine Metagenomics\, Plant Science\, Metabolomics and Proteomics)\, and a
set of common challenges proposed by the sister BioHackathon organised in
Japan.\n\nGOALS\n- Advance the development of an open-source infrastructur
e for data integration to accelerate scientific innovation. We will focus
on technology implementations such as FAIR\, identifiers\, metadata standa
rds\, ontologies and metadata catalogues that support the operations acros
 s ELIXIR platforms (Compute\, Data\, Interoperability\, Tools\, and Traini
ng)\n- Engage the technical people in the bioinformatics community inside
and outside ELIXIR to work together on topics of common interest aligned t
o ELIXIR activities\n- Strengthen the interactions with ELIXIR platforms a
nd communities to establish and reinforce collaborations through hands-on
 programming activities.\n\n\n
