DESCRIPTION:During this training\, different aspects of ‘responsible rese
 arch’ will be discussed.Bioethics is one of the core aspects of responsi
 ble research. It is a very prominent issue in the biomedical areas of life
  sciences research. For instance\, in research involving primary human mat
 erials\, in clinical trials\, or in the use of animals for scientific rese
 arch. What are the main ethical issues here? How do we deal with them? Wha
 t is the role of ethical review boards in this area\, and how do they func
 tion? What about animal research? How do you apply the three R’s (replac
 ement\, reduction\, and refinement) in animal research?Also\, the ‘broad
 er societal impact of biotech and life sciences research’ will be dealt 
 with. Contested topics\, such as e.g. embryo research and the worldwide de
 bate on the public availability of human sequence data\, will be discussed
