DESCRIPTION:Educators:\nAndreas Weidemann\, Martin Golebiewski (HITS gGmbH\
 , Heidelberg\, Germany)\, Frank Bergmann\, Jürgen Pahle\, Sven Sahle (Uni
versity of Heidelberg\, Germany) (de.NBI-SysBio) in collaboration with edu
 cators from UK\, New Zealand\, Japan\, Germany\, USA\n\nDate:\nThursday\,
 October 31st\, 2019\n\nLinks:\nhttp://co.mbine.org/events/tutorial2019\n\n
Location:\nOkinawa Insitute of Science and Technology Graduate University\
nOkinawa\, Japan\n\nContents:\nThis tutorial workshop is a satellite of th
e 20th International Conference on Systems Biology (ICSB).\n\nParticipants
will learn how to set up computer models of biological systems (e.g. meta
bolic or signalling networks) using experimental kinetic data and how to s
imulate them in different systems biology platforms. Hands-on sessions\, l
ectures and software demonstrations will be included\, providing attendees
with the necessary skills to access experimental kinetics data from avail
able resources\, to assemble computer models with these data\, and finally
to simulate the generated models using simulation tools. Also handling an
d exchange of biological models based on existing community standards will
be demonstrated along with the basic principles of the underlying standar
d formats and how they\nsupport reproducible and FAIR computational modell
ing.\n\nThe topics covered will include:\n- Reproducibility and FAIR (Find
 able\, Accessible\, Interoperable and Re-usable) data\n- Curation services
\n- Model setup using different software tools and systems biology platfor
ms\n- Using experimental data for setting up quantitative models\n- Parame
 ter estimation\, optimization and model fitting\n- Simulation\, analysis a
nd visualization of biochemical models\, and multicellular modelling\n- Co
nstraint-based and logical modeling of metabolic and signaling networks\n-
Database supported modelling: integrated data management and model databa
ses\n- Community standards and formats for systems and synthetic biology m
odels\n- Machine learning for model reduction and image analysis\n\nPrereq
