DESCRIPTION:This three day course will provide attendees with an introducti
on to the use of simulation and modelling packages on High Performance Com
puting (HPC) platforms. The course will consist of both presentations and
hands-on workshops.\nThe course will be of interest to existing users of c
omputational methods in the energy\, renewables\, oil and gas\, aerospace\
, automotive and general engineering l sectors who wish to explore the ben
efits of moving to higher capability computing platforms.\nThe course will
be delivered by industry experts in the field and will cover multidiscipl
inary\, multi-physics approaches in areas such as Computational Fluid Dyna
mics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). The course will cover both t
ools and process. Attendees will be exposed to the complete process lifecy
cle covering meshing\, solving and post processing. The course will addres
s both manual and automated approaches to process integration and implemen
tation on HPC.\nOn completion of the course attendees will be able to:\n
 • Describe how simulation and modelling packages are implemented on HPC.
\n• Describe how the combination of HPC and computational software can b
e integrated into current processes and workflows.\n• Identify the benef
its of using simulation and modelling tools on HPC in terms of reducing co
sts and time to market.\nAs a prerequisite for the course attendees should
have a basic understanding of the concepts of computational simulation an
d modelling and should have had prior hands-on use of at least one CAE sof
tware package providing CFD and/or FEA functionality.\nDay 1: Ansys: Train
ing focused on information provision and hands on tutorials to demonstrate
the benefits of engineering simulation in Industry. Particular focus on C
FD and HPC with some coverage of multi-physics.\nDay 2: ICON: Workshop wit
h a mix of lectures\, presentations\, and hands on tutorials demonstrating
the application of Open Source CFD technology on High Performance Computi
ng Platforms. The course will focus on solving large scale\, complex simul
ation and modelling challenges across a range of industrial engineering do
mains.\nDay 3: ACEL: Workshop on Improving Design and Analysis Productivit
y through process automation and the use of HPC.\nDay 3: PDL Group: The im
plementation\, evolution and benefits of HPC in an analysis based engineer
ing consultancy. PDL will explain their use of HPC technologies applied to
fluid and multi-physics problems through case studies and real-time illus
 trative examples and exercises\n\nhttps://events.prace-ri.eu/event/195/
