DESCRIPTION:Educators:\nSteffen Klamt\, Axel von Kamp\, Pavlos Bekiaris (de
 .NBI-SysBio)\n\nDate:\n4 – 5 November 2025\n\nLocation:\nOnline\n\nConte
nts:\nThis 2-days course introduces principles of constraint-based modelin
g and computational design of metabolic networks coupled with a live demon
stration and hands-on exercises with the MATLAB package CellNetAnalyzer (C
NA) and its Python-variant CNApy.\n\nDay 1\nOverview of key methods of con
straint-based modeling and metabolic network design (coupled with live dem
onstration of CNA and CNApy):\n\nFundamentals of constraint-based modeling
of metabolic networks\nMetabolic flux (balance) analysis\nFlux Variabilit
 y analysis\nPhase planes and Yield spaces\nMetabolic pathway analysis\nMin
imal cut sets and computational design of metabolic networks\n\nDay 2\nHan
ds-on exercises with CNA and CNApy: the participants will practice the use
of CNA or/and CNApy by exercises with small example networks as well as w
ith realistic metabolic models.\n\nLearning Goals:\nComprehensive understa
nding of (1) stoichiometric and constraint-based modeling of metabolic net
works and of (2) related key functionalities of CellNetAnalyzer and CNApy
.\nHands-on exercises with CellNetAnalyzer and CNApy will enable the parti
cipants to routinely use these software tools in their daily work.\n\nPrer
 equisites:\nNone\n\nKeywords:\nMetabolic networks\, Flux Balance Analysis\
 , Constraint-based modeling\, Metabolic design\, Microbial metabolism\, Sy
 stems Biology\n\nTools:\nCellNetAnalyzer\, CNApy
