DESCRIPTION:Cray’s supercomputer platforms are an advanced pairing of sof
tware and hardware that provide HPC application developers and users the o
pportunity of excellent scaling and high productivity. This workshop\, pro
vided staff from the Cray Centre of Excellence for HECToR\, offers instruc
tion and insight into using the advanced tools available for analysing and
optimising applications on the Cray XE6 and XC30 systems available at PRA
CE member sites.\nIntended for users with experience or an interest in run
ning on a Cray platform\, this course will cover topics like:\n Using the
Cray Performance Analysis Toolkit (CrayPAT) to automatically analyse appl
 ications\, including providing automatic optimisation suggestions.\n	\n R
eveal\, a source code scoping and analysis tool for assisting users unders
tanding and parallelising application loops.\n	\n Advanced application pl
acement and ordering for alleviating load imbalance and optimising inter-p
rocess communication.\n	\n Optimising IO patterns for improved throughput
and easier data management.\n\nThere will be ample opportunity for users
to work on their own applications and to engage directly with Cray staff w
orking in the Centre of Excellence for HECToR for advice and feedback.\nIn
addition to this two-day PRACE workshop\, the Cray Centre of Excellence w
ill be running an additional morning on Friday 28th June 2013 at the same
venue covering the next generation Cray XC30 hardware. This morning will i
nclude:\n A detailed explanation of the Cray XC30’s new Aries Interconn
ect and Dragonfly network topology.\n	\n Compiler features and techniques
for optimising applications for the Cray XC30’s new Intel CPUs.\n\nThis
session is not part of the PATC programme but if you are interested in at
tending please note this clearly on the registration form\, in the "Reason
for Participation" field.Pre-requisites:\nUsers should have a working kno
wledge of Fortran\, C or C++ and would benefit from knowledge of a paralle
 l programming like MPI\, OpenMP\, OpenSHMEM\, UPC or Fortran Coarrays.\n\n
