DESCRIPTION:This hands-on workshop teaches fundamental data skills needed f
 or anyone that deals with data and datasets. You will learn basic concepts
 \, skills\, and tools for working more effectively with data. The aim is t
 o get researchers doing more in less time\, and with less pain!\n\nWe will
  cover:\n\n- data organisation in spreadsheets\n- data cleaning\n- SQL (St
 ructured Query Language)\n- the command line\n- R for data analysis\n- vis
 ualisation using biological examples\n\nBy the end of the workshop\, learn
 ers should be able to more effectively manage and analyse data and apply t
 he tools and approaches directly to their ongoing research.\n\nThis four-d
 ay workshop will be delivered virtually\, via Zoom\, with input from 10:00
 -15:00 GMT\, including breaks (see programme and further information tabs 
 for more details).\n\nWho is this event for?\nResearchers in the life scie
 nce and computational science disciplines. We particularly encourage PhD s
 tudents and postdoctoral scientists to attend\, but the course is open to 
 everyone\, at any stage of their career.\n\nThe course is aimed at complet
 e beginners\; trainees are expected to have no prior knowledge of the tool
 s or computational experience before attending. However\, we will cover a 
 lot of material and the training is quite fast paced\, so be prepared to f
 ully immerse yourself in the world of data management and analysis!\n\nReg
 istration is currently reserved for certain groups. If you are interested
