DESCRIPTION:This hands-on workshop will introduce users of the R software e
nvironment to the techniques involved in generating reproducible\, dynamic
data analyses and reports. Using literate programming approaches\, partic
ipants will learn to build automated reusable reports in R.\n\nPractical e
xercises will include integration and manipulation of datasets\, generatio
n of summary statistics about a dataset\, and how to produce high-quality
tables and charts.\n\nRecommended participants\n\nBiologists and bioinform
aticians wishing to structure and interpret data and generate dynamic repo
rts using R. Prior expertise with R and the command line interface is requ
ired\, to a level equivalent of that provided by the QFAB workshop “Intr
oduction to R”.\n\nWhat will I learn?\n\nDuring this course you will lea
rn about:\n\nBuilding dynamic reports for reproducible research with liter
ate programming techniques\nReformatting data and summarising and integrat
 ing datasets\nGenerating high-quality graphic presentations of data\nProdu
cing reusable scripts in R\nAfter this course you should be able to:\n\nIm
port tabular data files into R\nUse R to merge data from two or more files
based on common fields\nExtract data from a table and summarise it in bot
h text and graphical formats\nCreate a knitR template that combines automa
ted data analysis with free-form text interpretation
