DESCRIPTION:When writing software to process health\, genetic or other sens
itive data in High Performance Computing (HPC) clusters\, software develop
ers and researchers must consider the requirements of the General Data Pro
tection Regulation\, including the principle of privacy by design and the
duties of data protection. \n In this webinar we will highlight the risks
of working with sensitive data on an HPC cluster and what are common soft
ware vulnerabilities. We will discuss general best practices in software d
evelopment and provide guidelines on how to handle data in applications. W
e will also raise awareness of outside factors that affect data security a
nd briefly mention important generic organisational measures that should b
e in place.\n\n### About the speaker\n\nSarah Peter studied Bioinformatics
and worked for a few years as a researcher and data manager at the Max Pl
anck Institute. Now she works at the [Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomed
icine\, UNILU](https://wwwen.uni.lu/lcsb)\, as an Infrastructure Engineer
in the R3 and IT Infrastructure team. She is also the liaison for the HPC
team. Since GDPR has come into effect\, she spends some of her time doing
risk analysis for the institute’s IT infrastructure and the HPC cluster.
