EUDAT is an EU-funded project that aims to "tackle the specific challenges of data management, and to ensure a coherent approach to research data access and preservation" within the context of large-scale research facilities such as PRACE.
This course will cover tools and techniques for moving data on, off and between high performance computers and community data repositories. As well as presenting the general principles, it will cover the data management tools and services developed by EUDAT, and focus specifically on their use within the PRACE infrastructure.
During the first day, participants will learn concepts and practices to increase research data availability and persistence through Eudat data infrastructure. In addition, the challenges and services designed to resolve them are presented.
The second day provides more practical insight to the first day concepts. Two technologies enabling data movement and staging will be introduced with hands-on sessions. In addition, a number of data movement tools are presented.
The third day concentrates on security and alternative concepts to moving data.Schedule:
