DESCRIPTION:# Overview\n\nThis course introduces trainers in the life scien
 ces to learning principles\, training techniques\, lesson\, session\, cour
 se\, and material design as well as assessment and feedback. It offers gui
 dance\, ideas and tips for designing training/teaching\, development and d
 elivery on training activities\, all based on research-driven educational 
 principles. Examples and discussions will also focus on the challenges pre
 sented by academic teaching.\n\nThis course has been developed for and by 
 trainers in bioinformatics but is suitable for all trainers and educators 
 in higher education. It is part of the [ELIXIR-GOBLET Train-the-Trainer pr
 ogramme](https://elixir-europe.org/platforms/training/train-the-trainer).\
 n\nThe course will run from 23 to 26 November in the mornings\, and is org
 anised by ELIXIR-Switzerland.\n\n# Audience\nThis course is addressed to s
 cientists:\n* with some to little or no teaching experience\,\n* who want 
 to become a teacher or a better one\, and\n* who believe teaching is - or 
 may become - a relevant aspect of their professional development. \n\n# Le
 arning objectives\nAt the end of the course\, the participants are expecte
 d to:\n\n* tell which learning principles a good trainer should have in mi
 nd\n* describe at least three training techniques drawing on learning prin
 ciples\n* design a training session and a course\n* develop assessment que
 stionnaires\n* tell what types of material are needed for each part of a t
 raining session\n\n# Prerequisites\n##### Knowledge / competencies\nThis c
 ourse is designed for scientists with some to little or no teaching experi
 ence.\n##### Technical\nIt's an online course\, but it's all based on huma
 n interactions. You will basically need a computer for a browser and to pa
 rticipate in the Zoom meeting. \n\n\n# Application\nThis course is free of
