DESCRIPTION:Identifiers.org enables the referencing of data for the life sc
 iences community. It handles persistent identifiers in the form of Uniform
  Resource Identifier (URI)\, a string of characters used to identify a res
 ource eg http://identifiers.org/pdb/2gc4 and Compact URIs (CURIEs) a gener
 ic\, abbreviated syntax eg pdb:2gc4. This allows the referencing of data i
 n both a location-independent and resource-dependent manner. Provision of 
 resolvable identifiers fits well with the Semantic Web vision\, and the Li
 nked Data initiative.\n\nSarala Wimalaratne (EMBL-EBI) will present the 
 outcomes from the Identifiers Implementation Study\, which aims to estab
 lish ldentifiers.org as a stable ELIXIR system for uniform identifier reso
 lution of major bioinformatics resources (with a focus on ELIXIR reference
