DESCRIPTION:Educators:\nKyowon Jeong\, Peter Jones\, Timo Sachsenberg (CIBI
 )\n\nDate:\nMonday\, January 19\, 2026\n\nLocation:\nOREA Resort Sklář\,
  Harrachov\, Czech Republic\n\nContents:\nDay 1 of the EuBIC-MS Winter Sch
ool 2026 opens with an accessible introduction to computational mass spect
rometry\, combining a concise conceptual overview with an interactive\, ha
nds-on pyOpenMS session. Participants will get an intuition for how MS dat
a can be explored\, processed\, and automated using open tools\, and how t
his connects to common analysis workflows covered throughout the week.\n\n
Participants will:\n\nGet a high-level overview of computational MS concep
ts and typical workflow building blocks\nLearn what the OpenMS ecosystem i
s and how pyOpenMS enables scripting and customization\nWork through an in
teractive hands-on session to explore MS data and fundamental processing s
teps\nPrerequisites:\nNo programming experience required. Basic familiarit
y with mass spectrometry concepts is helpful but not necessary. Bring a la
ptop.\n\nLearning goals:\n\nUnderstand the fundamentals of “computationa
l MS”\nGet hands-on exposure to pyOpenMS\; visually explore and process
 data\nKeywords:\nComputational mass spectrometry\, OpenMS\, pyOpenMS\, han
 ds-on training\, reproducible workflows\, automation\n\nTools:\nOpenMS\, p
yOpenMS\n\nAudience:\nStudents and researchers new to computational MS\, a
nd anyone who wants a practical starting point for MS data analysis with o
 pen-source tools.
