DESCRIPTION:Educators:\nRenato Alves\, Lisanna Paladin\, Christian Schudoma
  (HD-HuB) Roberto Paoli\, Patryk Polinski\, Daniel Santos Olivan\,Jim Swog
er (EMBL Barcelona)\, Francesco Tabaro (EMBL Rome)\n\nDate:\n02/02/2026 -
 06/02/2026\n\nLocation:\nHeidelberg &amp\; Barcelona\n\nContents:\nThe mis
sing step between data collection and research progress is a lack of train
ing for researchers in crucial skills for effectively managing and analysi
ng large amounts of data. This hands on workshop teaches researchers the f
undamental data skills they need to conduct their work\, and provides high
-quality\, domain-specific training covering the full lifecycle of data-dr
iven research. The domain-specific approach allows participants to tailor
the data\, content\, and tools to reflect the specific data and analysis n
eeds of different areas:\n\n- Data organisation and cleaning\n- Introducti
on to R\n- Data analysis and visualisation in R\n- Interacting with databa
ses from R\n- Data analysis with applications to genomics\n\nLearning goal
s:\nYou will learn...\n- how to organise data and some practices for more
effective data handling\n- to effectively clean and format data and automa
tically track any changes\n- to use R to handle\, filter\, and summarise t
abular data\n- to use the split-apply-combine concept for data analysis\n-
to visualise the results of these analyses in R using the ggplot2 library
\n- to apply all of the concepts in an exploratory analysis of a typical b
iological dataset\n\nPrerequisities:\nThe course is aimed at graduate stud
ents and other researchers in the life sciences who would like to learn go
od practices in data management and analysis. The course is ideally suited
to students without prior experience in computational research\, but some
familiarity with working with tabular data on a computer is welcome.\n\nK
 eywords:\nData Carpentry\, R\n\nTools:\nR
