DESCRIPTION:The Gene Ontology (GO) resource is the world's most comprehensi
ve source of information about the function of gene products (proteins and
non-coding RNAs). The GO consists of two main components: an _ontology_ o
f terms that describe biological phenomena and _annotations_ that connect
gene products to ontology terms. In addition\, GO develops tools to help r
esearchers make use of the GO in their analyses. \n\nThis webinar will pr
ovide an overview of what GO terms are and how they relate within the stru
cture of the ontology. It will also describe how annotations are created a
nd highlight some of the limitations of the GO. Lastly it will introduce s
ome freely available bioinformatic resources used for accessing the GO\, a
nd methods used in GO analysis
