DESCRIPTION:**Application deadline: _15 April 2018_**\n\n**Deadline dor app
lying to FEBS Youth Travel Funds (YTF): _28 February 2018_**\n\nThe worksh
op intends to present the state-of-fhe-art of the computational\ntools for
interpreting at the molecular level the effects that genome\nvariations i
nduce in the cell system\, contributing to fill the knowledge\ngap between
genotype and phenotype.\n\nNGS techniques allow detection of the differen
ces in genetic sequences and\nin gene expression that can be associated to
different phenotypes\, and\nstatistical methods can estimate a significan
ce level for each\nassociation. However\, the exploitation of genetic asso
ciation data\nrequires elucidation of how variations affect the structure
of\nmacromolecules and their interaction patterns and how biological proce
sses\nand pathways are hampered. Proteins\, their stability and their\nrel
ationships in interactomes will be the central topic. Furthermore\, a\npar
ticular regard will be given to the regulation at the transcriptional\nand
translational levels\, as derived from epigenomic and ribosome\nprofiling
data.\n\nComputational tools are absolutely necessary to perform the anal
ysis of\nmassive amounts of biomedical data and modern techniques for data
base\nintegration\, non parametric statistics\, machine-learning and in pa
rticular\ndeep-learning approaches\, can have a huge impact in the field.
The\nexploitation of data in the applicative domains\, and in particular i
n\ntranslational and stratified medicine\, strongly rely on the availabili
ty\nof computational methods able to extract\, elaborate and generalise\nb
iologically relevant information\n\nThe workshop aims at presenting the st
ate-of-the-art of computational\nmethods for genome interpretation and col
lects expert scientists from both\nexperimental biomedicine and computatio
nal biology. The mixing of\ncompetences is fundamental for generating sign
ificant advancements\, and\nthe proposed workshop .\n\nThe format of the w
orkshop allows extensive interaction among students and\nlecturers\, and o
ffers to young researchers the possibility of presenting\ntheir work at po
ster sessions and with short selected talks.
