DESCRIPTION:Generalised linear models are the kind of models we would use i
f we had to deal with non-continuous response variables. For example\, thi
s happens if you have count data or a binary outcome.\n \nThis course aims
to introduce generalised linear models\, using the R software environment
. Similar to [Core statistics using R](https://www.training.cam.ac.uk/bioi
nformatics/course/bioinfo-coreStatsR) this course addresses the practical
aspects of using these models\, so you can explore real-life issues in the
biological sciences. The ''Generalised linear models using R'' course bui
lds heavily on the knowledge gained in the core statistics sessions\, whic
h means that the Core statistics using R course is a firm prerequisite for
joining.\n \nThere are several aims to this course:\n \n1. Be able to dis
tinguish between linear models and generalised linear models\n\n2. Analyse
binary outcome and count data using R\n\n3. Critically assess model fit\n
\nR is an open-source programming language so all of the software we will
use in the course is free. We will be using the R Studio interface throug
hout the course. Most of the code will be focussed around the ''tidyverse'
' and ''tidymodels'' packages\, so a basic understanding of the tidyverse
syntax is essential.\n\n\nIf you do not have a University of Cambridge [Ra
 ven account](https://legacy.raven.cam.ac.uk/auth/account/) please book or
 register your interest [here](http://bioinfotraining.bio.cam.ac.uk/booking
 -form/?event-id=5294922&amp\;course-title=Generalised%20Linear%20Models%20
 using%20R%20in-person).\n\nAdditional information\n\n* ♿ The training ro
om is located on the first floor and there is currently no wheelchair or l
evel access.\n* Our courses are only free for registered University of Cam
bridge students. All other participants will be charged according to our
 [charging policy](http://www.training.cam.ac.uk/bioinformatics/info/chargi
ng).\n* Attendance will be taken on all courses and a charge is applied fo
r non-attendance. After you have booked a place\, if you are unable to att
end any of the live sessions\, please email the [Bioinfo Team](https://tra
 ining.csx.cam.ac.uk/bioinformatics/info/contact).\n* Further details regar
ding eligibility criteria are available [here](http://www.training.cam.ac.
uk/bioinformatics/info/eligibility).\n* Guidance on visiting Cambridge and
  finding accommodation is available [here](https://bioinfotraining.bio.cam
