DESCRIPTION:A **genome assembly and annotation course** will take place on 
 **July 1-5\, 2019** in **Milan\, Italy**\, \nhosted by the Italian ELIXIR 
 Node in cooperation with other ELIXIR nodes that are involved \nin the ELI
 XIR-EXCELERATE task 10.3 “Capacity Building in Genome Assembly and Annot
 ation”.\nSome of the most experienced assembly and annotation experts in
  Europe will be \nteaching at the course.\n\nThe course is aimed at resear
 chers interested in learning more about genome assembly \nand annotation. 
 It will include information useful for both the beginner and the more \nad
 vanced user. We will start by introducing general concepts and then contin
 ue with a \nstep-by-step description of all major components of a genome a
 ssembly and \nannotation workflow\, from raw data all the way to a final a
 ssembled and annotated genome.\nThere will be a mix of lectures and hands-
 on practical exercises using Unix/Linux \ncommand line.\n\nAfter the cours
 e\, the participants will have knowledge of commonly used assembly practic
 es \nand tools. They will be able to run assembly and annotation projects 
 on their own.\n\n**Prerequisites:**\n- **Working knowledge of Unix/Linux c
 ommand line**\n- **As part of the course agenda\, course participants will
  prepare a short presentation about their own projects.**\nOptionally\, th
