DESCRIPTION:A guide to the technology\, analysis workflows\, tools\, and re
sources for next generation sequencing data analysis.\n\nThis virtual cour
se will provide insights and training into how biological knowledge can be
derived from genomics experiments and explain different approaches in ana
lysing such data. The main focus will be on introducing sequence informati
cs\, re-sequencing\, and variant calling during the analysis of higher-euk
aryotes\, with an emphasis on human genetic research. Throughout the week\
, more advanced topics will introduce the creation of pipelines\, automati
on\, and the scaling-up of analysis experiments.\n\nPractical sessions wil
l enable participants to process training datasets and apply appropriate s
tatistical methods in their analyses. There will be no opportunity to work
with personal research data during the course.\n\n**Virtual course**\n\nP
articipants will learn via a mix of pre-recorded lectures\, live presentat
ions\, and trainer Q&amp\;A sessions. Practical experience will be develop
ed through group activities and trainer-led computational exercises. Live
sessions will be delivered using Zoom with additional support and communic
ation via Slack. \n\nPre-recorded material will be made available to regi
stered participants prior to the start of the course and in the week befor
e the course there will be a brief induction session. Computational practi
cals will run on EMBL-EBI's virtual training infrastructure\, meaning part
icipants will not require access to a powerful computer or install complex
software on their own machines.\n\nParticipants will need to be available
between the hours of 09:30 – 18:00 GMT each day of the course. Trainer
s will be available to assist\, answer questions and further explain the a
 nalysis during these times.
