DESCRIPTION:Data Management Plans (DMPs) are an essential component of rese
arch projects\, providing a structured framework to ensure that data is ad
equately documented\, organised\, shared\, and preserved throughout the re
search lifecycle. In this webinar\, we will provide an introduction to dat
a management plans\, discussing key aspects of effective data management a
nd how to develop a comprehensive data management plan.\n\nWe will start w
ith an overview of data management\, explaining why it is a critical compo
nent of research projects\, and providing an introduction to the data mana
gement planning process. Participants will learn how to develop a data man
agement plan that meets funding agency requirements and outlines the steps
for efficient data management. Components such as data description and me
tadata\, data sharing and preservation\, security and privacy\, and ethica
l and legal considerations will be discussed.\n\nIn addition\, this webina

fective data management practices. This includes creating and following a
systematic and consistent data organisation system with file naming conven
tions\, folder structures\, and version control. Selecting appropriate da
ta repositories for sharing and preserving research data\,as well as ensur
ing proper formatting and documentation for long-term preservation\, will
be covered.\n\nThe webinar will address common challenges in data manageme
nt\, including issues related to data privacy and security\, sharing sensi
tive data\, and ensuring that data is accessible and usable by others. We
will provide guidance on how to address these challenges through effective
planning and institutional policies and procedures.\n\nFinally\, the webi
nar will conclude with a discussion of best practices for data management
and maintaining effective data management practices over time. Participant
s will learn how to create a culture of good data management within their
research teams and organisations\, and how to ensure that data management
practices are regularly reviewed and updated as needed.\n\nOverall\, this
webinar serves as a comprehensive introduction to data management planning
\, providing participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to devel
op and maintain effective data management plans for their research project
 s. Whether you are new to research data management or looking to improve y
our existing practices\, this webinar is an essential resource for anyone
involved in research data management and curation.\n\nThis webinar will be
presented by Daniel Wibberg and Helena Schnitzer\, Training Coordinators
from Elixir Germany for de.NBI.\n\nThe event is in English and will be hel
d on 06 July 2023\, 14:00 CEST (available afterwards on demand). Attendanc
