DESCRIPTION:Educators:\nAxel von Kamp\, Steffen Klamt\, Sven Thiele (MPI Ma
 gdeburg)\, Frank T. Bergmann\, Ursula Kummer (University of Heidelberg)\,
Wolfgang Müller\, Maja Rey\, Andreas Weidemann\, Ulrike Wittig (HITS) (de
 .NBI-SysBio)\n\nDate:\n21. - 23 September 2020\n\nLocation:\nMPI Magdeburg
 \nSandtorstrasse 1\n39106 Magdeburg\n\nor online\n\nContents:\nKey concept
s of stoichiometric and kinetic modeling of biochemical networks:\n- stoic
hiometric matrix and stoichiometric networks\n- steady state flux distribu
tions\n- principles of constraint-based modeling\n- metabolic flux analysi
s and flux optimization (flux balance analysis)\n- metabolic pathway analy
sis with elementary flux modes\n- metabolic network design via minimal cut
sets\n- simulation of dynamic (kinetic) models\n- sensitivity analysis\n-
carrying out parameter estimation tasks\n- model exchange using SBML\nDat
a and model management:\n- manual/programmatic access to reaction kinetics
data from SABIO-RK\n- storage and exchange of data and models using FAIRD
 OMHub/SEEK\n- modeling specific functionalities in FAIRDOMHub/SEEK\n \nLea
rning goals:\nDuring this 3-day course\, attendees will learn basic techni
ques for modeling of biochemical networks including data access and storag
e due to the FAIR principles. The first day SABIO-RK is used as a resource
for kinetic data and FAIRDOMHub/SEEK is introduced as a data and model ma
nagement platform fitted to the needs of systems biologists. The second da
y introduces principles of stoichiometric and constraint-based modeling co
upled with hands on exercises using CellNetAnalyzer. The third day continu
es with kinetic modeling techniques which will be illustrated and exercise
d with COPASI\n\nThe hands on exercises throughout the three days will ens
ure that attendees become familiar with the software tools and with analyz
 ing\, creating\, editing\, importing\, simulating and storing biochemical
networks.\n\nPrerequisites:\nSome knowledge of mathematical modeling will
be advantageous.\nThe participants should bring their own laptop with MATL
AB installed (if you do not have MATLAB please let us know during registra
tion).\nDownload and preinstallation of COPASI and CellNetAnalyzer is reco
 mmended but not mandatory.\n\nKeywords:\nCellNetAnalyzer (CNA)\, COPASI\,
 SBML\, FAIR\, modeling\, kinetic data access\, database\, data and model m
 anagement\n\nTools:\nCellNetAnalyzer\, COPASI\, Matlab\, SABIO-RK\, FAIRDO
