DESCRIPTION:Python is increasingly used in high-performance computing proje
cts. It can be used either as a high-level interface to existing HPC appli
cations and libraries\, as embedded interpreter\, or directly.\n\nThis cou
rse combines lectures and hands-on sessions. We will show how Python can b
e used on parallel architectures and how to optimize critical parts of the
kernel using various tools.\n\nThe following topics will be covered:\n\nI
nteractive parallel programming with IPython\n	Profiling and optimization\
 n	High-performance NumPy\n	Just-in-time compilation with numba\n	Distribut
ed-memory parallel programming with Python and MPI\n	Bindings to other pro
gramming languages and HPC libraries\n	Interfaces to GPUs\nThis course is
aimed at scientists who wish to explore the productivity gains made possib
le by Python for HPC.\n\nPrerequisites: Good working knowledge of Python a
nd NumPy\n\nApplication \nRegistrations are only considered until 31 May 2
018 due to available space\, the maximal number of participants is limited
. Applicants will be notified\, whether they are accepted for participitat
 ion.\n\nInstructors: Dr. Jan Meinke\, Dr. Olav Zimmermann\, JSC\n\nContact
