DESCRIPTION:Modern C++\, with its support for procedural\, objected oriente
 d\, generic and functional programming styles\, offers many powerful abstr
 action mechanisms to express complexity at a high level while remaining ve
 ry efficient. It is therefore the language of choice for many scientific p
 rojects. However\, achieving high performance on contemporary computer har
 dware\, with many levels of parallelism\, requires understanding C++ code 
 from a more performance centric viewpoint.\n\nIn this course\, the partici
 pants will learn how to write C++ programs which better utilize typical HP
 C hardware resources of the present day. The course is geared towards scie
 ntists and engineers\, who are already familiar with C++14\, and wish to d
 evelop maintainable and fast applications. They will learn to identify and
  avoid performance degrading characteristics\, such as unnecessary memory 
 operations\, branch mispredictions\, and unintentionally strong ordering a
 ssumptions. Two powerful open source libraries to help write structured pa
 rallel applications will also be introduced:\n\n\n    Intel (R) Threading 
 Building Blocks\n    NVIDIA Thrust\n\n\nPrerequisites: Good working knowle
 dge of C++\, especially the C++14 standard.\nPlease check with these quest
 ions whether your C++ knowlegde fulfills the requirements.\n\nApplication
