DESCRIPTION:Marine biologists and environmental scientists now have access
to a plethora of powerful methods that help them to determine the distribu
tion and abundance of organisms in the natural environment. Yet\, a major
challenge persists which is managing and sharing data from large-scale pro
jects in a standardised format and ensuring it meets FAIR (Findable\, Acce
ssible\, Interoperable\, Reusable) principles. This webinar series highlig
hts insights from our experts and their work toward establishing a standar
dised data flow\, with a special focus on integrating diverse types of ima
ging data. Join us as we explore the full journey—from planning for effe
ctive sample metadata collection to the open publication of FAIR datasets.
The webinar series will cover key principles and best practices in data
management\, with a particular emphasis on bioimaging data collected from
large-scale environmental sampling studies. It will also explore how this
data can be integrated with other data types derived from the same samples
in the future. The series is organised by the STANDFLOW project\, an init
iative supported by EMBL’s Planetary biology Transversal Theme. STANDFL
OW is about a collaborative effort towards creating a standardised data ma
nagement workflow. The project primarily utilises imaging data derived fro
m samples collected through the TREC (Traversing European Coastlines) and
the Roscoff Culture Collection. The webinars making up this series are
listed below. Follow the links to find out more about each webinar. You wi
ll need to register for each webinar you would like to attend. Recordings
will be made openly available of all webinars on their individual pages.Pl
ease note that additional webinars will be added to the list shortly.
