 roduces accessing remote advanced computing facilities via the command lin
 e and High Performance Computing (HPC). After completing this course\, par
 ticipants will:\n\n\n	Understand motivations for using HPC in research\n	U
 nderstand how HPC systems are put together to achieve performance and how 
 they differ from desktops/laptops\n	Know how to connect to remote HPC syst
 ems and transfer data\n	Be able to use the Bash command line on remote sys
 tems\n	Know how to use a scheduler to work on a shared system\n	Be able to
  use software modules to access different HPC software\n	Be able to work e
 ffectively on a remote shared resource\n\n\nFull details including course

 e ARCHER National Supercomputing Service and PRACE.\n\nThis course is free
  to all.\n\nPre-requisites\n\nThere are no prerequisites for this workshop
 .\n\nRequirements\n\nParticipants must bring a laptop with a Mac\, Linux\,
  or Windows operating system (not a tablet\, Chromebook\, etc.) that they 
 have administrative privileges on. They should have a few specific softwar
 e packages installed as detailed at the ARCHER Software setup page. They a
 re also required to abide by ARCHER Training Code of Conduct.\n\nAccessibi
 lity\n\nWe are committed to making this workshop accessible to everybody. 
 The workshop organisers have checked that:\n\n\n	The room is wheelchair / 
 scooter accessible.\n	Accessible restrooms are available.\n	Materials will
  be provided in advance of the workshop and large-print handouts are avail
 able if needed by notifying the organizers in advance. If we can help maki

  for the UK national HPC services ARCHER and Cirrus. He is also heavily in
 volved in advanced computing training at EPCC. Andy has a particular inter
 est in enabling new user communities to make use of HPC and the use of nov
 el user engagement to improve the HPC user experience. He has been involve
