DESCRIPTION:A complete understanding of biological systems requires integra
tion of knowledge of the regulation and function of small molecule metabol
ites – the metabolome – with that of genes\, transcripts\, and protein
 s (the genome\, transcriptome\, and metabolome).\n\nThe UniProt knowledgeb
ase [UniProtKB](https://www.uniprot.org) supports biomedical research by p
roviding a comprehensive\, high quality and freely accessible resource of
protein sequences and functional information. UniProtKB integrates\, inter
prets and standardizes data from a range of sources including the scientif
ic literature\, tools for protein sequence analysis\, other knowledge reso
urces and databases\, and automatic annotation systems\, to provide a deta
iled overview of the available protein knowledge.\n\nThis webinar will pro
vide an introduction into how UniProtKB captures and represents knowledge
of small molecule metabolites using the [Rhea knowledgebase of biochemical
reactions](https://www.rhea-db.org/)\, based on the [chemical ontology Ch
EBI](https://www.ebi.ac.uk/chebi/)\, and how UniProt users can access and
 exploit that knowledge.
