DESCRIPTION:Deadline for application: 23rd of May: https://www.lyyti.fi/reg
 /Integrative_Structural_Biology_Course_3770 \n\n\nThe two week course is a
joint effort between the three large-scale research infrastructures SciLi
feLab\, MAX IV and ESS and additional related platforms. The aim is to giv
e an overview of the structural biology available at the research infrastr
uctures in Sweden. The course will focus on understanding the sample requi
rements\, the nature of structural information that can be obtained and ho
w data from multiple structural biology methods can be combined using e.g.
computational chemistry techniques. The course consists of lectures\, key
note speakers\, modelling practicals and facility visits. In addition eve
nts allowing time for networking within the group of students\, the teache
rs and other infrastructure personnel\, contributing to an expanded profes
 sional network.\n\nTechnologies/methods:\n\n * Macromolecular X-ray and
neutron crystallography\n * Small angle X-ray and neutron scattering \
 n * Cryo-electron microscopy\n * Macromolecular nuclear magnetic res
 onance spectroscopy\n * Structural mass spectrometry\n * Modelling a
 nd Computational methods \n * Biophysical characterization\n\nKeynote s
peakers:\n\nWe proudly present a number of exciting keynote speakers that
will present scientific examples of how integrative structural biology tec
hniques can be used to solve intriguing questions.\n\n Professor Poul N
issen\, Aarhus University\n Professor Carmen Domene\, University of Bat
 h\n Postdoctoral researcher Hanna Barriga\, Karolinska university\n\nAl
so we will be able to join in on the SciLifeLab “Annual lecture on Struc
tural Biology” where Demis Hassabis will talk on using AI to accelerate
 scientific discovery.\n\nLessons on modelling/computational methods:\n\nWe
will have several lectures on modelling and computational techniques for
 structural biology.\n\nAssociate professor Lucie Delemotte\, Integrating p
hysics-based and evolutionary modelling to investigate the conformational
dynamics of membrane proteins\n\nProfessor Gunnar von Heijne\, Different a
pproaches to the study of cotranslational protein folding\n\nProfessor Eri
 k Lindahl\, titel tbd\n\nPrincipal Research Engineer Claudio Mirabello\, T
he protein structure prediction problem: from Anfinsen to AlphaFold.\n\n
LOCATION:Onsite on three different locations across Sweden where the Swedis
h national Research Infrastructures\, MaxIV\, SciLifeLab and ESS are comin
g together to deliver a course on structural biology. \nThe course will be
held in Sweden\, on site\, between Aug 22 and Sept 2nd 2022.\n\n *Lund
