DESCRIPTION:The recordings of this course are available on YouTube:\n[Inter
 active Visualization with Python](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL
 xHnvy2HZSYnz-aauumQdr4Xbq40HW2e9)\n \n\n## Overview\nIf a picture is worth
a thousand words\, then one may say an interactive picture is worth a mil
 lion. \n\nIn today's data-driven research environment\, interactive visual
ization is becoming an essential tool for effectively exploring and presen
ting complex datasets. \n\nThis one-day streamed course is designed to pr
ovide you with a solid grounding in this topic and help you get your beari
ngs in this dynamic world. \n\nYou'll learn to select the right visualizat
ion tools for your needs\, create and customize interactive plots using Py
 thon Plotly\, and develop web-based applications with Plotly-Dash. \n\nThe
se techniques will enable you to make your data exploration more intuitive
and your findings easier to share. Enhance your research with clear\, int
eractive visualizations and improve your ability to communicate scientific
insights effectively. \n\n \n\n| go from non-interactive plot | to inter
active plots with plotly | and then add even more interactivity with plot
 ly-dash | \n|:------:|:--------:|:--------:| \n| | | | \n\n \n\n## Au
dience\n\nThis course is designed for PhD students\, postdoctoral and othe
r researchers in the life sciences from both academia and industry who use
python in their research and would like to enhance their data exploration
and presentation capabilities with interactive plots.\n \n\n## Learning o
utcomes\nAt the end of the course\, the participants should be able to: \n
\n* Compare and choose the most relevant interactive visualization technic
al solution based on their needs and means\, from simple interactive plots
\, complex static html pages using web assembly\, to full-blown dash apps
\n\n* Create simple interactive plots and tune them to make them useful fo
r scientific data exploration with python plotly \n\n* Enrich visualizatio
ns with interactive elements while keeping them easy to share as simple ht
ml files with python plotly or web assembly \n\n* Develop web server-based
  data visualization applications with plotly-dash \n\n\n## Prerequisites\n
 ##### Knowledge / competencies\nParticipants should be fluent in the pytho
n programming language\, including a working knowledge of standard data-an
alysis libraries such as numpy and pandas. \n\nA basic knowledge of standa
rd python plotting libraries (matplotlib\, seaborn) as well as some basic
HTML elements would be a plus. \n\n##### Technical\nYour laptop must have
a recent Python version (minimum 3) and several Python libraries installed
. The software installation and the needed libraries are indicated in the
  course [GitHub repo](https://github.com/sib-swiss/intermediate-python-tr
 aining/blob/main/README.md). \n\n## Schedule - CET time zone\nThe schedule
and course materials are/will be on the dedicated [GitHub page](https://g
 ithub.com/sib-swiss/intermediate-python-training/tree/master/course3). \n\
n## Application\nRegistration fees are **100 CHF** for academics and **500
CHF** for for-profit companies. \n\nWhile participants are registered on
a first come\, first served basis\, exceptions may be made to ensure diver
sity and equity\, which may increase the time before your registration is
confirmed. \n\nApplications will close on **11/11/2025** or as soon as the
places will be filled up. Deadline for free-of-charge cancellation is set
to **05/11/2025**. Cancellation after this date will not be reimbursed. \
n\nYou will be informed by email of your registration confirmation. Upon r
eception of the confirmation email\, participants will be asked to confirm
attendance by paying the fees within 5 days. \n\n## Venue and Time\nThis
course will be streamed via Zoom. \n\nThe course will start at 9:00 and en
d around 17:00 CET. Precise information will be provided to the participan
ts in due time. \n\n\n## Additional information\nCoordination: Diana Marek
 \, SIB Training group\n\nHelper: Jeferyd Yepes\n\nWe will recommend 0.25 E
CTS credits for this course (given a passed exam at the end of the course)
. \n\nYou are welcome to register to the SIB courses mailing list to be in
formed of all future courses and workshops\, as well as all important dead
