DESCRIPTION:About\n\nThis kickoff meeting will discuss a recently approved
  ELIXIR User Community on the topic of Intrinsically Disordered Protein
 s (IDPs).\n\nOver the last two decades\, IDPs have developed from being a 
 pet project of biophysicists interested in protein (non-)folding to being 
 recognized as a major determinant in cellular regulation. It is estimated 
 that almost half of the human proteome is made up of “dark” residues m
 ostly encoding for IDPs and related phenomena with IDPs having central rol
 es for​ protein homeostasis\, cellular signaling and implicated in many 
 human diseases. One of the key problems with IDPs\, and the main limitatio
 n why their existence is not yet translated into the ELIXIR core data reso
 urces\, was the lack of a clear definition of the phenomenon. In a way\, t
 he concept of intrinsic disorder is itself disordered\, as different autho
 rs have used it to mean somewhat different things.\n\nELIXIR User Communit
 y coordinate ELIXIR’s activities by bringing together experts to develop
  specialised standards\, services\, workshops and Implementation Studies i
 n the domains of Human Data\, Rare Diseases\, Marine Metagenomics\, Plant 
 Sciences\, Proteomics\, Metabolomics and Computational resources. IDP User
  Community would drive the integration of data from (un-)structural biolog
 y into the core data resources and would provide new standards\, technolog
 y and training to develop the field.\n\nFull details including the Partici
