DESCRIPTION:Analysing biological datasets is nearly always a multi-step pro
cess involving many interconnected stages. Even so\, the lack of transpare
nt approaches to managing complex data analysis pipelines remains a common
challenge in the life sciences. Another limiting factor is that completin
g such pipelines often requires in-depth knowledge of many data analysis t
ools and programming languages. There is\, therefore\, a continued need fo
r methodologies that make complex biological data analysis pipelines easie
r to implement.\n\nThis webinar will present some of the main practical wa
ys through which PerMedCoE seeks to make data analysis pipelines more mana
geable and accessible to researchers. In particular\, the webinar will pro
vide an overview of how the project addresses many biological use cases us
ing a single\, shared approach in which semi-automated workflows are const
ructed using purpose-designed building blocks.\n\n### About the speaker\n\
nDr Jesse Harrison is a Senior Data Scientist and Project Manager at CSC -
IT Center for Science Ltd\, where he currently leads the Horizon EU [BioD
T project](https://biodt.eu/). His other tasks have included R environment
design\, maintenance and support on CSC computing platforms\, bioinformat
ics tool development\, and teaching. Prior to joining CSC in 2019\, Jesse
held postdoctoral positions in microbial ecology\, astrobiology and enviro
nmental chemistry at the universities of Helsinki\, Turku\, Vienna and Edi
 nburgh (2012-2019).
