 uencing\, including basic Linux commands. We will pair lectures on the the
 ory of analysis algorithms with practical computational exercises demonstr
 ating the use of common tools for analyzing data from each of several comm
 on sequencing study designs.\n\nTopics covered will include:\n\nBasic Linu
 x usage\nNGS read-to-reference alignment (genomic and RNA-Seq)\nVariant ca
 lling in populations\nDe novo assembly of RNA-sequence data\nReference-gui
 ded RNA-Seq expression analysis\nData management\nAnalysis techniques cove
 red will focus mostly on data from the Illumina platform\, but we will dis
 cuss other sequencing platforms and the advantages and challenges to using
  their data.\n\n
