DESCRIPTION:**About the workshop**\n\nThe [European Genome-phenome Archive
(EGA)](https://ega-archive.org/) is a resource for archiving of all types
of potentially identifiable genetic\, phenotypic\, and clinical data resul
ting from biomedical research projects. Its mission is to foster hosted da
ta reuse\, enable reproducibility\, and accelerate biomedical and translat
ional research.\n\nTo promote the use and interaction with professionals i
n research and education\, we invite you to attend our first online worksh
op on the EGA and its ecosystem of tools. The goal of this training would
be to present EGA repositories and tools so that they can be incorporated
into your research or teaching. This online course is aimed at teachers\,
professors and trainers interested in incorporating these concepts and too
ls in their curriculums.\n\nRegister in this [online form](https://docs.go
 ogle.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfnyIscGgN961IvO6AcbL-cHk-A9zRezzLbGUHTf8ZJKI0YG
 Q/viewform) (open until Wednesday\, September 14).\n\n**Content**\n\n- Par
t 1: The EGA and introduction to human data and sharing sensitive data.\n-
Part 2: Tools for exploring data: EGA has a number of tools in relation t
o GA4GH\, such as Beacon or protocol htsget\, which will be presented. The
re will also be introduction to other repositories for exploring sensitive
human data\, including [GPAP: the RD-Connect Genome-Phenome Analysis Plat
 form](https://rd-connect.eu/what-we-do/omics/gpap/) for diagnosis and gene
discovery in rare disease research and [DisGeNET](https://www.disgenet.or
g/): a discovery platform designed to address a variety of questions conce
rning the genetic underpinning of human diseases.\n\nDuring the workshop\,
live demonstrations of the tools will be performed. The organisers will a
lso provide direct access to materials for learning and training. The agen
da is available on the [VEIS website](https://tess.elixir-europe.org/event
 s/workshop-tools-and-techniques-to-make-sensitive-data-discoverable).\n\nT
his course is supported by the [VEIS](https://veis.bsc.es/en/) project: Va
lue of the EGA for Industry and Society.
