DESCRIPTION:## Overview\nThe next frontier in understanding protein functio
n is deciphering the “PTM code”. Glycosylation as the most variable po
sttranslational modification complicates the picture with its own challeng
ing glycocode borne by eukaryotic surface glycoconjugates or microbial mem
brane polysaccharides. The ability of lectins to non-covalently bind glyca
ns makes these proteins the key readers of information encoded by glycans.
The roles of glycans and glycoconjugates are manifold and revealed in var
ious medical\, biochemical and biotechnological applications. Glycoinforma
tics provides useful means to browse\, search\, analyse and visualise info
rmation relative to the molecular entities involved in glycosylation. A se
lection of relevant resources will be presented during the course with a b
road variety of use cases\, ordered in levels of difficulty.\n\n## Audienc
e\nThis course is intended for life scientists (students\, postdocs\, rese
archers) with minimal knowledge of proteins as well as glycobiologists \n
\n## Learning outcomes\nAt the end of the course\, the participants are ex
pected to:\n* Have raised their awareness of the range and purposes of gly
coinformatics resources\n* Manage navigation in specialised glycoinformati
cs resources\n* Have grasped the specificity of glycan-mediated protein-pr
otein interactions\n* (for advanced users only) Manage SPARQL queries for
 fine detail information extraction\n\n## Prerequisites\n##### Knowledge /
competencies\nThis course is designed as a progression in acquiring skills
in glycoinformatics starting with beginner level (Tutorial 1 to 3) and gr
adually accommodating advanced users (Tutorial 4 and 5). It can be joined
 at any stage.\n\n\n## Schedule - CET time zone\n| Time | Topic |\n| ------
