 participants will learn how to use the Linux command line and interact wit
 h the sciCORE cluster. All new users of sciCORE are strongly encouraged to
  follow this course.\n\n# Audience\nThis course is restricted to members o
 f the University of Basel and associated institutes who want to use the sc
 iCORE cluster. It is designed for PhD students\, postdocs\, and group lead
 ers without (or very little) experience with Linux and the use of high-per
 formance infrastructures.\n\n# Learning objectives\nAt the end of the cour
 se\, the participants are expected to:\n* Obtain basic knowledge of the Li
 nux/UNIX environment\n* Obtain basic knowledge of high throughput and high
  performance computing\n* Learn how to use the sciCORE infrastructure for 
 scientific applications (including hands-on exercises)\n* Tips and tricks 
 for effective and efficient cluster usage (eg compute and storage usage gu
 idelines)\n* Discuss particular computing needs and requirements of course
  participants\n\n# Prerequisites\n##### Knowledge / competencies\nIf you d
 o not feel comfortable with UNIX commands\, please take our UNIX fundament
 als e-learning module or attend our 'First Steps with UNIX' course (see up
 coming training events).\n##### Technical\n* Have an internet connection. 
 We will host the course online via Zoom.\n* Windows users should install M
 obaXterm\, Linux and Mac users can use the Terminal application.\n\n# Appl
