 \n# Overview\nThis full-day course has a practical focus\, where participa
 nts will learn how to use the Linux command line and interact with the sci
 CORE cluster. All new users of sciCORE are strongly encouraged to follow t
 his course.\n\n# Audience\nThis course is restricted to members of the Uni
 versity of Basel and associated institutes who want to use the sciCORE clu
 ster. It is designed for PhD students\, postdocs\, and group leaders witho
 ut (or very little) experience with Linux and the use of high-performance 
 infrastructures.\n\n# Learning objectives\nAt the end of the course\, the 
 participants are expected to:\n* Obtain basic knowledge of the Linux/UNIX 
 environment\n* Obtain basic knowledge of high throughput and high performa
 nce computing\n* Learn how to use the sciCORE infrastructure for scientifi
 c applications (including hands-on exercises)\n* Tips and tricks for effec
 tive and efficient cluster usage (eg compute and storage usage guidelines)
 \n* Discuss particular computing needs and requirements of course particip
 ants\n\n# Prerequisites\n##### Knowledge / competencies\nIf you do not fee
 l comfortable with UNIX commands\, please take our UNIX fundamentals e-lea
 rning module or attend our 'First Steps with UNIX' course (see upcoming tr
 aining events).\n##### Technical\n* Have an internet connection. We will h
 ost the course online via Zoom.\n* Windows users should install MobaXterm\
 , Linux and Mac users can use the Terminal application.\n\n# Application\n
