DESCRIPTION:This course is now full with a long waiting list. We are no lon
ger accepting applications. If you do not want to miss your chance to be p
art of the next session and remain informed about all training activities
at SIB\, we highly recommend you to keep an eye on our list of [upcoming e
 vents](https://www.sib.swiss/training/upcoming-training-courses) and subsc
ribe to our [courses mailing list](https://lists.sib.swiss/mailman/listinf
o/courses)\, if not yet done. Thank you for your understanding.\n\n# Overv
iew\nThis two-day course will present the theory and bioinformatics tools
required to analyze RNA-seq gene expression data\, The course will present
the theory and bioinformatics tools required to analyse RNA-seq gene expr
ession data\, from the raw data until the biological interpretation. The f
ollowing topics will be discussed:\n* Quality control\n* Mapping to genome
 s &amp\; transcriptomes\n* Read counting\, gene &amp\; exons differential
expression analysis\n* GO enrichment and pathway analysis\n\n# Audience\nT
his course is addressed to life scientists or bioinformaticians familiar w
ith "Next Generation Sequencing" who wish to acquire the necessary skills
to analyse RNA-seq gene expression data.\n\n# Learning outcomes\nAt the en
d of the course\, the participants are expected to:\n* Describe advantages
and pitfalls of RNA sequencing\n* Design their own experiment\n* Perform
the downstream analysis using command line software (QC\, mapping\, counti
 ng\, differential expression analysis\, pathway analysis\, etc)\n* Critica
lly assess the quality of their results at each step of the downstream ana
 lysis\n\n# Prerequisites\n##### Knowledge / competencies\nParticipants sho
uld already have a basic knowledge in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) tec
hniques.\n\nBasic knowledge of the R statistical software and completion o
f an introductory course on UNIX (eg UNIX fundamentals) or equivalent know
ledge is also required.\n##### Technical\nYou are required to have your ow
n Wi-Fi enabled laptop.\n\nYou should also have access to a terminal on yo
ur computer: if you are on macOS / Linux\, this is already the case\; if y
ou are on Windows\, you should install a terminal which lets you do ssh (f
or instance mobaXterm). \n\n# Schedule\n\nThis course will be streamed.\n
\nIt will start at 9:00 CET and end around 17:00 CET. \n\nPrecise informat

he fees within 5 days.\n\nDeadline for free-of-charge cancellation is set
to **19/08/2021**. Cancellation after this date will not be reimbursed. Pl
ease note that participation in SIB courses is subject to our [general con
 ditions](https://www.sib.swiss/training/terms-and-conditions).\n# Additio
nal information\nCoordination: Monique Zahn\, SIB Training Group.\n\nWe wi
ll recommend 0.5 ECTS credits for this course (given a passed exam at the
end of the course).\n\nYou are welcome to register to the SIB courses mail
ing list to be informed of all future courses and workshops\, as well as a
ll important deadlines using the form [here](https://lists.sib.swiss/mailm
an/listinfo/courses).\n\nPlease note that participation in SIB courses is
