DESCRIPTION:Using the Linux operating system and the bash command line inte
 rface\, we will demonstrate the basic structure of the UNIX operating syst
 em and how we can interact with it using  a basic set of commands. Applyin
 g this\, we will learn how to navigate the filesystem\, manipulate text-ba
 sed data and structure simple pipelines out of these commands.\n\nBuilding
  on this foundation\, the course will use a bioinformatics example to demo
 nstrate how the skills learnt can be applied to connecting to external res
 ources/servers\, installing specialist tools and ultimately combining comm
 ands into scripts for automation and reproducibility.\n\nThis course is ta
 rgeted at participants with no prior experience working with UNIX-like sys
 tems (OSX\, Linux) or command line interfaces. \n\nThe training room is lo
 cated on the first floor and there is currently no wheelchair or level acc
