DESCRIPTION:# What is LabID ?\n\nLabID is an **all-in-one data management p
latform for life-science research**\, designed to help researchers\, labs
and facilities organise their data\, and keep track of its experimental pr
ovenance. LabID provides an inventory\, sample and data-management\, an el
ectronic lab notebook and an integration with workflow engines like Galaxy
.\n\nLabID is open-source\, and primarily developed at the EMBL. A central
installation is currently deployed across the EMBL sites\, and a few othe
r institutes and research groups also started deploying their own instance
.\n\n# About the workshop\n\nParticipation to the event is free and **open
to both EMBL-affiliated and external participants**. The workshop will ta
ke place at EMBL Heidelberg\, **from Monday Sept 28th after lunch to Tuesd
ay evening**\, and is offered in a **hybrid format**. \nOn-site participa
tion is limited to 20 participants.\n\nThis 1.5-day workshop will start wi
th a general introduction about data-management with LabID\, covering the
 different concepts (study\, assay\, sample)\, illustrated with hands-on tu
torials and concrete use-cases.\n\nFor the second day\, we will present th
e newer workflow integration of LabID\, and how it can be used to document
the provenance of derived datasets\, such as ones generated by workflows
or simpler scripts. This second part will be illustrated with sequencing w
orkflows (e.g from Nextflow) and/or an image-conversion workflow (conversi
on of microscopy images to OME-Zarr).\n\n# Who should attend ?\n\nWhether
you’re new to LabID or already have access to an installation and use so
me of its features\, this workshop will help you become more comfortable w
ith LabID's concepts and get the most out of it. \n**All user profiles ar
e welcome**: wet lab researchers\, computational scientists\, data steward
s\, lab managers\, and system admins!
