DESCRIPTION:This course gives an introduction to linear mixed effects model
s\, also called multi-level models or hierarchical models\, for the purpos
es of using them in your own research or studies.\n\nWe emphasise the prac
tical skills and key concepts needed to work with these models\, using app
lied examples and real datasets. \n\nAfter completing the course\, you sho
uld have:\n* A conceptual understanding of what mixed effects models are\,
and when they should be used\n* Familiarity with fitting and interpreting
mixed effects models using the lme4 package in R\n\n''Please note that th
is course builds on knowledge of linear modelling\, therefore should not b
e considered a general introduction to statistical modelling.''\n\n\n\nIf
you do not have a University of Cambridge [Raven account](https://legacy.r
aven.cam.ac.uk/auth/account/) please book or register your interest [here]
 (http://bioinfotraining.bio.cam.ac.uk/booking-form/?event-id=5345672&amp\;
 course-title=Linear%20mixed%20effect%20models%20in-person).\nIf for any re
ason the above links do not work\, please email [Research Informatics Trai
 ning Team](https://training.cam.ac.uk/bioinformatics/info/contact) with de
tails of your course enquiry.\n\nAdditional information\n\n* ♿ The train
ing room is located on the first floor and there is currently no wheelchai
r or level access.\n* Our courses are only free for registered University
of Cambridge students. All other participants will be charged according to
  our [charging policy](http://www.training.cam.ac.uk/bioinformatics/info/
charging).\n* Attendance will be taken on all courses and a charge is appl
ied for non-attendance. After you have booked a place\, if you are unable
to attend any of the live sessions\, please email the [Research Informatic
 s Training Team](https://training.cam.ac.uk/bioinformatics/info/contact).\
