DESCRIPTION:This course gives an introduction to linear mixed effects model
s\, also called multi-level models or hierarchical models\, for the purpos
es of using them in your own research or studies.\n\nWe emphasise the prac
tical skills and key concepts needed to work with these models\, using app
lied examples and real datasets. \n\nAfter completing the course\, you sho
uld have:\n* A conceptual understanding of what mixed effects models are\,
and when they should be used\n* Familiarity with fitting and interpreting
mixed effects models using the lme4 package in R\n\n''Please note that th
is course builds on knowledge of linear modelling\, therefore should not b
e considered a general introduction to statistical modelling.''\n\n\nIf yo
u do not have a University of Cambridge [Raven account](https://legacy.rav
en.cam.ac.uk/auth/account/) please book or register your interest [here](h
 ttp://bioinfotraining.bio.cam.ac.uk/booking-form/?event-id=5879884&amp\;co
 urse-title=Linear%20mixed%20effect%20models%20online).\nIf for any reason
the above links do not work\, please email [Research Informatics Training
 Team](https://training.cam.ac.uk/bioinformatics/info/contact) with details
of your course enquiry.\n\nAdditional information\n\n* Our courses are on
ly free for registered University of Cambridge students. All other partici
pants will be charged according to our [charging policy](http://www.train
ing.cam.ac.uk/bioinformatics/info/charging).\n* Attendance will be taken o
n all courses and a charge is applied for non-attendance. After you have b
ooked a place\, if you are unable to attend any of the live sessions\, ple
ase email the [Research Informatics Training Team](https://training.cam.ac
 .uk/bioinformatics/info/contact).\n* Further details regarding eligibility
  criteria are available [here](http://www.training.cam.ac.uk/bioinformatic
 s/info/eligibility).
