DESCRIPTION:This course is the perfect follow-up to the Basic statistics in
R course for people who are doing experiments with multiple grouping vari
ables\, dependent groups  and/or mixed designs. Where the Basic statistic
s in R course ends with a brief description of the use of lm() for compari
ng groups\, these topics form the starting point for this course. Linear
mixed models have rapidly gained popularity in the last 20 years. They bec
ame the most used tool in research\, particularly in life sciences. Yet\,
they are often not well understood and misused. This course will provide th
e background of the models but will be as applied as possible with example
s and R-code.We invite participants to send us your own data set during re
gistration (see form below). We will discuss and treat a selection of data
sets during the course as long as:They can be sharedYou provide us with
explanation about goal and setupThe data are properly and simply formatted
