DESCRIPTION:## Overview\nThe FAIR (Findable\, Accessible\, Interoperable an
d Reusable) principles provide guidelines for making research data and oth
er resources more easily discoverable and reusable\, which can help increa
se your research's impact and exposure. Adhering to these principles also
ensures that your research is more reliable and reproducible\, as others c
an more easily access and provide feedback. In addition\, making your rese
arch FAIR can promote the principles of open science and make it easier fo
r others to contribute to and build upon your work. Finally\, many funding
agencies and journals now expect that your research outputs be made FAIR
as a condition of funding or publication\, so adhering to these principles
can help to ensure that your research meets these requirements.\n\nSharin
g and reusing data\, software\, and documentation is essential to the FAIR
principles and should be a routine task for scientists. Researchers can a
chieve this by providing all necessary information (data\, software and pa
rameters used\, scripts for the analysis\, databases and their versions) a
nd using markdown to create a single file that can be easily shared as a w
eb page.\n\n## Audience\nThis course is addressed to computational biologi
sts\, bioinformaticians\, researchers\, scientists and trainers working in
the life sciences who want to learn how to make their research and traini
ng FAIRer with reproducible notebooks and websites.\n\n## Learning outcome
s\nIn this course\, participants will learn tools and concepts to take sig
nificant steps towards adhering to the FAIR principles\, which will enhanc
e the benefits of sharing and collaboration in research. More specifically
\, at the end of the course\, the participants are expected to:\n* Create
notebooks and websites based on Markdown\, and Python or R with Quarto\n*
Use Git and GitHub to version control the generated content\n* Host a webs
ite by making use of GitHub actions and GitHub pages\n* Link the GitHub r
epository to Zenodo and give it a unique identifier (DOI)\n\n## Prerequis
ites\n##### Knowledge / competencies\nParticipants are expected to have an
introductory level in programming with R or Python. \n##### Technical\nPa
rticipants should have a GitHub account and bring their laptops with eithe
r the latest versions of RStudio or VSCode pre-installed.\n\n## Applicatio
n\nThe registration fees for academics are 100 CHF and 500 CHF for for-pro
fit companies.\n\nWhile participants are registered on a first come\, firs
t served basis\, exceptions may be made to ensure diversity and equity\, w
hich may increase the time before your registration is confirmed.\n\nYou w
ill be informed by email of your registration confirmation. Upon reception
of the confirmation email\, participants will be asked to confirm attenda
nce by paying the fees within 5 days.\n\nApplications close on 29/06/2026
or as soon as the maximum capacity has been reached. Deadline for free-of-
charge cancellation is set to **29/06/2026**. Cancellation after this date
will not be reimbursed. Please note that participation in SIB courses is
 subject to our [general conditions](https://www.sib.swiss/training/terms-a
nd-conditions).\n\n## Venue and Time\nThis course will be streamed. \n\nTh
e course will start at 9:00 and end around 17:00. \n\nPrecise information
will be provided to the participants in due time.\n\n\n## Additional info
rmation\nCoordination: Diana Marek\, SIB Training group.\n\nAt the end of
the course\, we will provide a *Certificate of Attendance* or a *Certifica
te of Achievement* recommending 0.25 ECTS credits (given a passed exam).\n
\nYou are welcome to register to the SIB courses mailing list to be inform
ed of all future courses and workshops\, as well as all important deadline
 s using the form [here](https://lists.sib.swiss/mailman/listinfo/courses).
\n\nPlease note that participation in SIB courses is subject to our [gener
 al conditions](https://www.sib.swiss/training/terms-and-conditions).\n\nSI
