DESCRIPTION:Gain knowledge of the tools\, processes and analysis approache
s used in the field of metagenomics.\n\nThis course will cover the metagen
omics data analysis workflow from the point of newly generated sequence da
ta. Participants will explore the use of publicly available resources and
tools to manage\, share\, analyse and interpret metagenomics data. The co
ntent will include issues of data quality control and how to submit to
public repositories. While sessions will detail marker-gene and whole-gen
ome shotgun (WGS) approaches\; the primary focus will be on assembly-ba
sed approaches. Discussions will also explore considerations when assembli
ng genome data\, the analysis that can be carried out by MGnify on such da
tasets\, and what downstream analysis options and tools are available.\n\n
 #### Virtual course\n\nThe course content will involve participants learn
ing via pre-recorded lectures\, live presentations and trainer Q&amp\;A s
essions. Practical experience will be developed through group activities a
nd computational exercises. Sessions will be delivered over [Zoom](https:
//zoom.us/) with additional text communication over [Slack](https://slac
k.com/intl/en-gb/). Trainers will be available to assist\, answer questio
ns and further explain the analysis during these times. Computational pra
cticals will be run in [Docker containers](https://www.docker.com/) ope
rating on EMBL-EBI's virtual training infrastructure\; this means there i
s no need to have a powerful computer to run exercises or a requirement t
o install complex software before the course.\n\nParticipants will need
to be available between the hours of 09:00-17:00 GMT each day of the cours
 e.
