DESCRIPTION:This virtual course will demonstrate how public bioimaging data
resources\, centred around the BioImage Archive\, enable and enhance mach
ine learning based image analysis. The content will explore a variety of d
ata types\, including electron and light microscopy and miscellaneous or m
ulti-modal imaging data at the cell and tissue scale. Participants will co
ver contemporary biological image analysis with an emphasis on machine lea
rning methods\, as well as how to access and use images from databases.\n\
 n**Virtual course**\n\nParticipants will learn via a mix of pre-recorded l
ectures\, live presentations\, and trainer Q&amp\;A sessions. Practical ex
perience will be developed through group activities and trainer-led comput
ational exercises. Live sessions will be delivered using Zoom with additio
nal support and asynchronous communication via Slack.\n\nPre-recorded mate
rial may be provided before the course starts that participants will need
to watch\, read or work through to gain the most out of the actual trainin
g event. In the week before the course\, there will be a brief induction s
ession. Computational practicals will run on EMBL-EBI's virtual training i
nfrastructure\, meaning participants will not require access to a powerful
computer or install complex software on their own machines. \n\nParticip
ants will need to be available between the hours of 08:00 – 18:00 GMT e
ach day of the course. Trainers will be available to assist\, answer quest
ions\, and provide further explanations during these times.
