DESCRIPTION:Note: this is a two day course which runs over four consecutive
  mornings.\n\n09:30 - 12:30 BST each day\, with a break from 11:00 to 11:3
0.\n\nThis course is fully booked and the waiting list is full.\n\nOvervie
w\n\nWith the recent revisions to the C++ language and standard library\,
the ways it is now being used are quite different. Used well\, these featu
res enable the programmer to write elegant\, reusable and portable code th
at runs efficiently on a variety of architectures.\n\nHowever it is still
a very large and complex tool. This course will cover a minimal set of fea
tures to allow an experienced non-C++ programmer to get to grips with lang
 uage.\n\nThese include:\n\n\n	   overloading\;\n	   templates\;\n
  containers\;\n	   iterators\;\n	   lambdas\;\n	   standard algorith
ms.\n\n\nWe will also briefly cover several important libraries for numeri
cal computing.\n\nPre-requisites\n\nThe course is designed for appeal to p
rogrammers with existing experience in another language (e.g. C\, Fortran\
, Java\, Python): it is not an introduction to programming.\n\nAttendees a
re also expected to be familiar with using basic Unix tools such as the ba
sh command line\, git repositories and simple Makefiles.\nhttps://events.p
